Join us for an amazing afternoon in our Farmhouse living room on June 16 with master Cape Breton Fiddlers Troy MacGillivray and Mari Black. They will teach us tunes and coach on the well known and driving Cape Breton traditional dance music style.

Workshop / Concert / Soup & Salad / Square Set / House Party
Learn some great tunes along with the plenty of tips and tricks with their clear and gentle coaching on style and ornamentation at an accessible level. The workshop will be followed by a lovely concert, food and festivities, ending up with an old style Cape Breton House Party. What is that? — Stick around and find out!
Dance music has an important role in the world. It brings joy not only to those who play, but also to those who listen or dance. Being a part of this process on any level helps our world become a better place.
Schedule:
2:30 – Arrive and get settled
2:45 – Music workshop session 1
3:30 – Break time/drinks/light snacks
3:45 – Music workshop session 2
4:30 – Jamming / hiking / relaxation
5:00 – Concert
7:00 – Let’s eat! (Soup & Salad etc.)
7:30 – Square Set in the Barn
8:00 – Cape Breton House Party till whenever!

This music series is being organized in honor of David Allen Kaynor, who spent many decades nurturing and inspiring our dance music community, and now it is our turn to carry the torch forward. The scholarship fund will help make music more accessible to those with limited resources.
