Fabric of Life exists because of the generosity of our community in supporting these ways – by volunteering at our annual BARNFEST events, weaving towels for our fundraisers, sharing our events with your friends and family, contributing your skills and wisdom to those seeking to learn, and through your monetary support. Without you, we would have no reason to be doing the work that we are, and without you, we could not be doing the work that we are. Thank you – every single one of you who has been a part of our journey! May we continue to learn and grow together for many generations!

Partners & Funders

We are thankful for the tremendous support we have had in our partnerships. Community is a critical component of navigating the terrain of growing and developing as a nonprofit organization and enacting our mission to support those who wish to deepen their learning and ways of living.

Bassett Road Homestead LLC

These beautiful grounds that were the childhood home of Becky Ashenden now serve as a physical foundation for our programming. It is the history of her family and their desire to have a homestead that nourished the wholeness of their family and their lives, paired with Becky’s adventuresome and curious nature, musical skills, and playful self that grew the roots for Fabric of Life to come into being. Our ability to build connection with this land, and to cultivate community, learning, and a deeper sense of self, skill, and others is an enriching and unique opportunity.

Ddora Foundation

The Ddora Foundation is committed to preserving and continuing the applied arts of America. They have been a pillar for Fabric of Life since the first day of our incorporation. With their financial support we have been able to provide scholarships for students between the ages of 18-35 to attend our Väv Immersion Weaving Intensive, develop our residential weaving retreats, and structure a weaving teacher apprenticeship.

Folk Arts Center of New England

The Folk Arts Center of New England is home to many talented individuals and we have benefited greatly from many of their bands that have donated their time and talents to our Barnfest celebrations as well as the opportunity to advertise in their Balkan Night program. We look forward to a long-lasting and mutually beneficial relationship that bears opportunities for learning, dancing, music-making, and the continued sharing of these traditions.

Franklin County Community Development Corporation

The wise counsel of the Franklin County Community Development Corporation has helped to steward many of our foundational efforts from how to build a better understanding of what our community wants and needs, to educating us on potential funding and partnership opportunities in our region. We are truly thankful for this resource and the generosity and support of the staff.

John Leni Marcy, Photographic Printmaker

John Leni Marcy has been a key part of the development of Fabric of Life from its inception. Supporting the founding vision of our mission, serving on the board and taking beautiful photographs of all that has happened over the years has been just a few of his many roles. His ability to share a sense of the wonderful community, learning, and connection that has grown, as well as the rich landscape, plants and creatures that our programs are surrounded by have been an anchor to our work. His patience, care, and numerous volunteer hours brought to us through the lens of his camera and his commitment to fostering a brighter future for generations to come is tremendous.

Vävstuga Weaving School

The Vävstuga Weaving School has been an anchor to our growth. In the early days they provided administrative support for our programs and space for our Immersion weaving intensives. These days they continue to advertise our offerings with their audience, and we utilize the wide range of materials and products they have in their store. Their wealth of knowledge and unending commitment to helping us to be successful has been a boon to our development.

Wheelview Farm

Through the years Wheelview Farm has generously offered their volunteer time, donations of goods to our potluck meals and auctions, and space for us to hold events. Their friendship, belief in us, and their commitment to creating sustainable and local sources for beef are just a few reasons why we feel so lucky to be partnered with them.
