SUMMARY:2022 Fellowship for Black Weavers
DESCRIPTION:Fabric of Life is excited to both fundamentally and financially support the formation and first meeting of a Fellowship for Black Weavers this spring. A group of black weaving enthusiasts will come together at the Bassett Road Homestead for a long weekend at the end of the month. Diversity in weaving techniques and traditions will be explored as community is built around a mutual love of weaving and textile art. The weekend retreat will be followed by a SkillShare week where two talented black artisans will each produce an educational video to provide basic information to new and potential weavers as they consider pursuing their interest in handweaving.

DESCRIPTION:Väv Immersion is an 8-week Scandinavian weaving intensive co-sponsored by Fabric of Life and Vävstuga Weaving School. \nThis comprehensive course includes challenging projects\, extensive theory classes\, and an immersive artisanal community. Väv Immersion is an experience to be remembered for a lifetime. The knowledge gained from this program creates a foundation for further professional opportunities such as museum work\, production weaving\, textile retail\, and teaching.
